I have always been one of those people who could eat whatever they wanted and never gain weight, and due to that fact, I never used to put much thought into what I ate. When I started experiencing health problems, my doctor ordered some tests and found that I was experiencing anemia due to an iron-deficient diet. I am grateful I had this "wake up call" before I continued to eat a bad diet for the rest of my life, because I soon also realized my diet was lacking vitamins and minerals. I changed my eating habits and began to feel much better. I began juicing to take advantage of all of the vitamins and minerals in healthy, fresh juice. I have learned a lot about health during my commitment to leading a healthier lifestyle, so I decided to start a blog to share my health advice with the world!

As you grow older, your body may become more prone to diseases and injuries. However, that does not mean that you can't remain healthy in your golden years. If you are willing to make certain lifestyle changes, you can have good health.

Eat a Healthy Diet

Older people may have a higher risk of chronic diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure. That is why it is extra important to eat a healthy diet. Stick to lean meats, whole grains, fruits and veggies and limit foods with high fat and salt content. Eating nutritious foods will also give you more energy throughout the day so that you can participate in more activities.

Go to the Dentist

Visiting the dentist may not be the most pleasurable task, but it is an important one, especially as you get older. Seniors have a higher risk of oral health problems, such as tooth decay and gum disease. Aim to visit the dentist twice a year for a checkup. The earlier dental problems are caught, the easier they are to treat.

Keep Your Bones Strong

Your bones can also weaken as you get older. That is why you should make an effort to maintain bone health. Increase your calcium and vitamin D intake, exercise on a regular basis and get bone density scans.

Get Recommended Health Screenings

As mentioned earlier, older people have a higher risk of chronic diseases than younger people. That is why it is crucial to get recommended health screenings, such as prostate and colon cancer screenings. Your doctor can evaluate your family history and determine what health screenings you require.

Have an Active Social Life

Unfortunately, loneliness is common among seniors. If you do not have anyone to talk to or spend time with, you can become very lonely and depressed. As such, make an effort to be more social. For example, you can volunteer or join a senior group. You can meet people your own age who share similar interests. Having people in your life can help you avoid loneliness and become a much happier person.
